LET’S TALK!! Now That Davido Has Performed At The O2, Is He Now On The Same Level As Wizkid And Burna Boy?
With all the recent lows, it’s hard to remember that there was actually a time Davido was arguably the biggest artist in Africa.
Shortly after his short reign in 2017, power changed hands and Burna Boy became a wild sensation, getting a Grammy nod as early as 2019.
Wizkid was busy working on what would become his bestselling album at that time.
After 2019, things changed. Burna Boy took over the game, and WizKid came back. Davido was there too, and he competed for a while.
His second studio album, “A Good Time” was famously a good one. But then 2020 came. Burna Boy and WizKid delivered, but Davido didn’t.
Burna Boy and WizKid were on the Billboard, Davido wasn’t. Burna Boy and WizKid got Grammy’s, Davido didn’t. The two guys performed the O2 (Wizkid did it twice), Davido for some reason couldn’t. Not at the time anyway.
Almost every incident that happened then kept saying the same thing: Davido fell off badly. Although many fans would not want to agree but the truth is, for a while now, Davido has struggled to get back on his feet.
But two nights ago, the ‘struggling’ Davido performed at a sold-out O2 Arena concert. This is a big feat for anyone. This simply means there’s hardly any venue he cannot play.
Even though he doesn’t have a recent hit like “Essence,” he was still able to come through. That’s considerably more than we can say for other artists that are not Wizkid and Burna Boy.
In my opinion, if there was any doubt before this that Davido was a worthy challenger for both Wizkid and Burna Boy, this alone should have cleared it all up.
Well, what do you think guys?
